Wildeye Photography is just myself. I grew up adventuring at a younger age, playing in the mountains and forests. The smell of pine, the intensity and fluidity of wildlife, the gravity of mountains, and the sun’s ability to paint light and transform landscapes were daily-life experiences for me.
Adulthood had me migrating to a wild jungle of concrete, people, and cars. Quietness and intensity was replaced by noise and frenzy. Wildlife was non-existent, nature just a memory. I spent two decades living in a major U.S. metroplex, living a career that had me carrying guns every day.
I had always loved photography, specifically wildlife and landscapes, but thought starting photography to be too much of a time and money commitment amidst a very busy career and the other interests in climbing and music. I was known a lot as the guy who took good photos with his iPhone.
You know how you are in a moment or see an angle and wish to capture it, so you take out your phone and do your best to seize that moment? And you know how it never turns out as good as it looks in real life? I realized if I was going to properly capture moments, I would need to invest in real photography skills and equipment.
Wildeye Photography is my attempt to capture the inspiring moments that I find when experiencing life outdoors. There are photography art pieces that hang in my home that I have purchased from others. I bought them because the part of the wild that they hold inspire me to go back out and find places like that, to search for similar experiences, and because they are such great reminders that places like the ones hanging on our walls are out there, for real!
As I leave this life and career and start new beginnings, I look to trade out carrying guns every day for carrying camera gear. My wish is to have my moments accurately captured and portrayed in hopes they inspire you like they inspire me, so you can have enjoyment when you look at your office wall or shelf above the fireplace, so you can be inspired to search and adventure for those places and moments, and to have peace knowing that beauty is really out there.
